Well it's Penny Arcade, it's funny in an alternate dimension where lolcats and Chuck Norris jokes are funny.

Not to rag on em too bad, they have had some funny strips but in general stuff like this makes me think that gamer culture is very insulated and.. meaningless? And this is coming from someone who spent most of the day playing GTA IV.

I don't get it.

It's lacking the context of the previous strips. They are playing the WoW CCG raid deck, where apparently one player "runs" the raid, and the other players work together. Tycho is running the raid deck, but in a roleplaying style, to the annoyance of Gabe, who just wants to play cards.

If you substitute "CCG" with MMO", it might make the joke flow better. :)

It's not a very far jump from one "tabletop" to another. In fact, one friend in our gaming group started just playing Magic the Gathering with us, and later tried D&D. Now, two years later, he's playing D&D with us, and other RPGs like Shadowrun and Warhammer FRP/40KRP with at least one other group! :D
