So next year is the 25th anniversary of Indiana Jones...

I wholely agree. George gets a bit to carried away with his visions and recreating/writing things.

Isn't the new movie supposed to be filming or coming out in a year or two?

Honestly, I'll be surprised if Indiana Jones 4 ever gets made. It's been in pre-production limbo for about the last five years now and has gone through several script revisions. I remember a few years back, it was stated that the movie was going to be out for the 4th of July weekend 2004. It's now October of 2005, and the movie hasn't even started filming yet.

I would like to see an Indy 4, but if things keep going the way they have been, it's very unlikely we'll ever see it.

(and I posted this before I saw Viking Bastard's post above, so I didn't intend to taunt him... but will do so now: nyah nyah nyah na nyah-ah! ;) )
Taunt away. Mock me silly.

I still haven't forgiven my mum for not letting me see the SE Star Wars in cinemas.
"No" she said, "Why would you? You've already seen them all on video!"

It still hurts. *sniff*

I saw them all in the theater, and what really hurt was the extended musical number in Jabba's Palace in RotJ. The original was completely uneccessary and lowered my enjoyment of the movie, even as a kid; the extended version was like salt in the wound. At least on DVD I can skip that scene entirely. Not so in the theater.

Bah!

I'm not a violent man, but if Lucas edits out Indy shooting the swordsman, I may have to declare a Jihad and gather outraged fans together to go burn down Skywalker Ranch. That was such a magnificently perfect scene.

The swordsman showing how buff and skilled he was, while a dirty, sweating tired Indy looks on in disgust and then almost as an afterthought pulls his gun out and shoots the guy dead.

It was one of the defining scenes of the movie. If he wants to include the fight scene in an outake or have some option to switch between the scenes when showing the movie that'd be fine, but the original scene had better be in there and viewable as part of the movie.

My favorite thing about the "shoot the swordsman" scene is all the bystanders grabbing the guys' valuables and running off. Sweet.

And yes, I'm sure Black Omega was kidding. He even included a smiley: :)

I agree entirely. What I find amusing is that the "Indy shooting the swordsman" scene is perhaps the single most famous scene in the entire trilogy (with the possible exception of Indy running away from the giant boulder), and it wasn't even scripted; it was a joke played by a couple of stuntmen that Spielberg decided to include in the final cut. :)

The funniest part is that there are actually about five or so different stories about WHY it happened.

The one I believe is the 'real' way is the one stated by Ford himself on the DVDs, where he simply says, "You know. I'd just shoot the guy." and they did it that way.

And no, Lucas won't be changing anything in Indy. Even though that was probably meant to be a joke, that's a dangerous one to make as you'll get a good amount of "Lucas sucks!" and "God I hope he doesn't do that!" because people don't realize one is kidding by reading the text. Yes, I'm tired of Lucas bashing.
