So, what do you want to play?

Assuming you go with 4e, with all the information presented, what do you want to play? What's going to be your first character?

For me:

1) Warlord - Likely Dragonborn, but anything else will do. The class sounds sexy to me. A class that makes everyone fight better, and can direct the flow of combat. Tactically minded characters make me glee.

2) Wizard. Race doesn't matter, really, though Human or Dwarf or something sturdy. Modeling the character in the mold of Harry Dresden and (hopefully it can be done) Constantine - tricky, clever, and putting his ass on the front line, in the thick of it.

Granted, I'm eager to DM it, but I want to play too. :)

-Human or 'Orc' Fighter maybe as a 'proto' game.

-Human or Dragonblooded Cleric - Bahamut as a Dragonblooded, not sure for an Human...

-I want to try a Psion when they will come out.

I really don't know and won't until I see the books, but I might give a plain old fighter a try. I haven't played one in ages, mostly because I'm not big of just being a big damage stick and not much else. If the fighter can have other abilities and skills that make them a little more interesting, that may be my first choice.

Warlock might suit this concept better. Just saying. :)

Converting my gnome illusionist/bard/gnome paragon to gnome wizard until such time as an illusionist base class appears.

My first created-for-4E character? I'll probably try out a dwarf warlord.

I'm thinking Dragonborn (and I was really against them until I read the most recent flavor) fighter or warlord in the style of one of the seven samurai/magificent seven characters.

Maybe I ought to give Gnomes a shot, one day...

Naah. Dresden's a classic Evoker; blowing stuff up is what he's best at. Just that he's clever, and uses his toolbox of minor tricks very intelligently.

... Although, given his background, the man did make a pact with a powerful fey, just so he could get a boost in power to overcome a goal when he was young.

... I just realized you're a WotC Employee. IIINNNTRIGUEEEING. :D

Dragonborn or Eladrin Fighter or Paladin. In 13 years of D&D, I've never had a primary melee guy as my tabletop character (the closest I got was a TWF ranger with a few fighter levels once), and if I'm running an "old" class, I'm going to want to try out a "new" race. Probably Eladrin Paladin, unless the synergies are bad for that.
