So, what do you want to play?

I'm torn between playing something "stereotypical" (elven ranger, tiefling warlock, dwarven fighter, etc.) versus something "atypical" (halfling ranger, tiefling paladin, etc.). There are lots of good combo ideas.

Here are some character ideas that I have fleshed out (RP and backstory wise):
-Half-elf Warlord (/fighter/paladin?)
-Tiefling Cleric/Rogue
-Dwarven Wizard (focuses on ice)

Classes/races that I don't have any ideas on yet, but still want to try:
-Eladrin, Elves, Dragonborn, Halflings
-Rogue (did I hear Blue say she could TELEPORT?!)
-Warlock (Spirits)

I like strikers so I really wanna play tiefling rogue and a dwarven warlock. I'm also eager to try a wizard, probably halfling.

Human Fighter, to make sure the system gets the basics right. Too much change at once (like a Dragonborn Warlock), and I don't think I would make the mental leap to "this is D&D."

My favorites have always been warrior-types and swordmage styles of classes. Human fighter or ranger (and I get the impression they're doing something interesting with the latter...) or a tiefling warlock.

I need more details, but here are the bits which have sparked my interest:

1. Dragonborn warlord
2. Tiefling warlord
3. Tiefling rogue
4. Human warlock
5. Human wizard

That's a good question.

As a practical matter, it is almost certain I will end up railroaded into the "Dungeon Master" class.

I like most of the classes I actually know something about. I don't know much about rogues, clerics, or rangers though, so I can't really offer an opinion yet on whether I find them personally appealing.

I'll probably do my usual of coming up with an idea, then building it. I've been wanting to play a halfling fighter with a machete for some time. I was going to use Tome of Battle and the Tiger Claw school, but never got the chance. Maybe I'll give him a whirl in 4e. I know its probably suboptimal, but I've never minded much.

I tend to play the same archetype every time, so...

Human Swordmage

I might just wait for it to be released before I switch to 4e... either that or write my own swordmage class based on the upcoming book of the same name and the 3e Swiftblade PrC.

I think I'll try my hand at a hafling warlock :) Barge-owning (eventually anyway) gypsy, semi-legit merchant warlocky type person.. Not sure what I'll align him to, need to read the fluff first.. Probably not feywild though.

Also, I'll probably try an eldadrin druid (if druids are in the book).
