Answer: Nobody would. And, in general, nobody *should*, even without that item. It's a waste of money if you have an arcane caster around, when you could just pay 1K and get him to cast it on you an extra time each day (pearl of power level one for the extra casting. You KNOW he's already casting it on himself).

Comment: Still, it's generally known that THAT item isn't "allowed". By the rules it should cost what bracers of armor +4 cost. Even if I do think that bracers of armor are horrifically overpriced all things considered.

Reply: Our artificer made "Jumper Cables". Casts ... I forget the name of the spell.. the lower level raise dead that has to be cast the round after the character dies.

Mine hasn't created much yet, but he's only a Warforged Fighter 1/Artificer 2. My plan is to make a lot of AC stuff and get that up into the stratosphere.. he's basically the party tank, though there are other (much more mobile) fighting types.

Lots of possibilities! I will have to see how it works in practice as play continues.

I created this item for our Warforged Bard.

Bag of Pups: This small sack appears normal and empty. However, anyone reaching into the bag feels a small, fuzzy ball. If the ball is removed and tossed up to 20 feet away, it turns into an animal. The animal serves the character who drew it from the bag for 10 minutes (or until slain or ordered back into the bag), at which point it disappears. It can follow any of the commands described in the Handle Animal skill. Use the following tables to determine what animals can be drawn out of each.
Animals produced are always random, and only one may exist at a time. Up to ten animals can be drawn from the bag each week.
Faint or moderate conjuration; CL 3rd (Pup), Craft Wondrous Item, summon nature’s ally II (Pup); Price 900 gp (Pup).

––— Pup ——
d% Animal
01–60 Great Dane
61–85 Pug
86–100 Husky

When most think of Artificers, they automaticly assume you are to create magic, but there is much more to hem than that.

I had my Artificer Masterwork our Warforged Bard's Voice.
That +2 can come in handy...

Yeah, you can bet that I'll be making an embedded slotless +5 Use Magic Device item for my Warforged pretty darn quick, once I have Create Wondrous Item!
