So what is your favorite module, ever?

Death in Freeport. I've run it many times, it has a good mix of encounter types, and leads into the greatest module trilogy ever written*.

Starstone by the Northern Sages for D&D
Have GMed this soo many times. Just great stuff

best of all time is Enchanted Wood for Dragonquest
so much to do in such a small compact module

Tatooine Manhunt for sci-fi.

Old School (and #1 overall): B4 - The Lost City.

New School: Red Hand of Doom.

Honorable Mention: Chagmat (from a very old issue of Dragon magazine... about 60-ish?).

DnD (Any Ed.)

My Favorites:
  • A1-4, G1-3, D1-3, Q1 (Later partially collected as GDQ1-7: Queen of the Spiders.)
    • A1: Slave Pits of the Undercity
    • A2: Secret of the Slavers Stockade
    • A3: Against the Slave Lords
    • A4: In the Dungeons of the Slave Lords
    • G1: The Steading of the Hill Giant Chief
    • G2: The Glacial Rifts of the Frost Giant Jarl
    • G3: Hall of the Fire Giant King
    • D1-2: Descent to the Depths of the Earth
    • D3: Vault of the Drow
    • Q1: Queen of the Demonweb Pits
  • Baba Yaga's Hut: Dragon Magazine Issue #83 (Coincidentally, that issue also has my call for best cover art for Dragon, ever.)
  • The Shackled City
  • B2 Keep on the Borderlands (Just for nostalgia.)
  • Ruins of Undermountain
  • X1: Isle of Dread

My Worst:
  • Night Below. I gave it away.
  • Ruins of Undermountain II. I gave it away, too.

Only one? That's tough. My top favorites would be X2: Castle Amber, X4: Master of the Desert Nomads, and X5: Temple of Death, and it's hard to choose one single favorite among them.

I think if I have to choose one, though, I'll go with X3: Curse of Xanathon. The first module I ever played in (so it's got nostalgic value), but I think it is also one of the most interesting, and certainly complex modules of a lot of the early classics. It is essentially a mystery story, and can be played on a multitude of levels- from the pure hack 'n slash (which is how we first played it), to a more complex roleplaying scenario with deep political and social interactions (which is how I DM'd it on more than one occasion). Love that module.

Best I ever played in:

1st - I6 Ravenloft

2nd - the Deserts of Desolation series

Honorable mention - I remember having a good time with one called (I think) Baltron's Beacon. Never hear any reminiscences of that one though, so I don't know how "good" it was...I just remember having a ball with it.

Best I ever Dmed:

1st place to 1st 2 installments of Sinister Secret of Saltmarsh. We never did bother with the Sahaugin in the 3rd one.

2nd place to Crucible of Freya.

Honorable mention to 2e FR's Doom of Daggerdale. Again, don't know how "good" a module it was, but we made it ours. (Not sure if that's the title, but it was a low level one that took place in Dagger Falls and involved Randal Morn.)

Very tough choice.

For non-D&D stuff:
Masks of Nyarlathotep (CoC)
From the Deeps of Space (V&V)
Death Duel with the Destroyers (V&V)

When I read the word "module", I'm thinking "D&D", all editions, and not any other RPGs. I forgot some would understand it in another way. Was the OP meaning "adventure for D&D" specifically or "any RPG" in which case my choice(s) may be very different indeed?
