WotC So, when do the announce the July book? Guesses on what it'll be? 🤔

There's not any enticing details here, but they do provide general outlines of what's coming this year:

Snippet about stuff not announced (written by Ray Winninger):

"Later in the year, Chris will return with our big summer adventure, James Wyatt will deliver a substantially improved version of a concept that I initiated myself, and Amanda Hamon will close us out with a project that was jointly conceived by herself and several other studio members. As usual, Jeremy Crawford is working with all of our leads, overseeing mechanical content and rules development.

In addition to these five major products, look for a couple of additional surprises we’ll unveil in the months ahead."

The order there is interesting, as it seems to indicate that the next book will be the major adventure for the year, as the July release and not the normal September release.

Granted, he might just be putting them out there in random order, but that doesn't seem to be the case from his wording.

Anyone have ideas from the revelations that the other two products are being overseen by James Wyatt and Amanda Hamon? Wyatt is a D&D veteran, so I'm thinking he might have the dragon and/or fey book we're anticipating from the UAs...

They're deep into campaign 2. The earliest I would expect to see a book connected to a new campaign would be 2023.
In the most recent episode I heard, Mercer made several comments that made it sound like they're in the home stretch of this campaign. Given that they now have an extraplanar headquarters they can go into almost on command, they're getting close to topping out what sorts of challenges a D&D campaign can handle unless they're going to again fight a god, which would be a real swerve for this campaign, although I guess they have a few candidates if that's planned.

Yeah, it reads to me like summer adventure and then two late summer/fall/winter products.

So, big adventure this summer. I've got no idea what that might be.

Draconomicon as the next product in the fall.

And final product -- a setting, maybe -- closer to December.

Big FR story in July, to match with the big FR Magic card Set.

Veteran designer status doesn't tell us much. In a lot of ways, what D&D needs -- and has been leaning into recently -- are fresh ideas.

Wyatt is a Setting guy, largely responsible for building the 4E and 5E core assumed Settings and involved in most of the 5E Setting books. Good candidate to be running either a new Setting, or the Draconomicon.

Amanda Gaming only started in December, but her history involves working on Kobold Press Pathfinder material and then Starfinder at Paizo. I wonder if the comment about other members of D&D studio was about Kate Welch: this could either be something new, it the Welch book of rumor and legend.

The tidbit that the team develops twice as many products as they end up finishing is pretty fascinating.
