So, who's interested in D20 Modern?

One thing though, with Bill Slavicsek and Jeff Grubb on the design team, it won't suck. (Perhaps the highest praise you can give to a game designer :) )

D20 Modern is a Good Thing

D20 Modern isn't gonna make me give up my beloved BESM or Fudge, but... what I saw of it in Shadow Chasers (especially the new classes) has got me more interested in the D20 system than I have ever been. This I would actually consider running.

And if you've been to Nutkinland, you know what I think of the whole D20 thing otherwise, so that's saying something right there. ;)

Alternity was pretty cool, and not genre specific.

I'm looking forward to d20 Modern, that Shadow Chasers sounds cool.

Alternity was good. (I've got every Alternity product printed and still forgot about it)

Hmm. I might take a look at this, but I hope they add some of that to the SRD. I was thinking of doing a post-apocalyptic setting under d20... something where an AK-47 with ammo would be as valuable as a +2 longsword...

RE: d20 Modern

Yeah, I am interested in how the rules are going to be set up for this particular game. Of course, I was initially thrown off by the quote "modern fantasy." I mean what is "modern fantasy"? A semi-realistic gameplay of a typical medieval setting? Or a fantasy-type genre set in the modern time period (like those Jet Li films Kiss of the Dragon and that Romeo Must Die movies where they used flying rope tricks)?

RE: AEG's Spycraft and Shadowforce Archer

Spycraft Lite (a preview demo of the Spycraft Espionage Handbook) and the Shadowforce Archer (formerly Series Archer, they're still using the old web site) looks to be a promising "modern fantasy" spy game (if the definition fits the latter choice above).

I'm kind of iffy on the some of the stats provided in the lite rules. For example, some of the pistols' range increment is awfully shorter than a primitive ranged weapon (e.g., bow, composite bow). Is this correct?

Other than the flaw above, I find this game to be a potentially enjoyable product to play.

Well I must say, I didn't think I would be, but I am interested in D20 Modern... It actually sounds kinda fun. I hope it is! Well, sounds like it's worth looking into at least!

Not sure about this one. For a generic game, classes always seem so very limiting. For games with a tight focus, whether fantasy or Spycraft, it's workable if not ideal. I'd give it a look but my system of choice for non-fantasy remains Hero System.

Dunno, I'm fond of Changeling and Shadowrun... (sure, both of those don't truly count as "modern fantasy," but, well...)
Guess I'll find out if this outdoes them. If anything, maybe it will introduce some mechanics that will translate painlessly.

I'm looking forward to seeing what they do with Armour as DR, the attribute focused hero classes, all of the things which are very *different* to standard D&D.
