"So, you're using Bonetti's Defense against me, eh?"

Only if the rules can provide the witty repartee. :D

Technically 3e already does.... Bluff and Intimidate. Granted they worked kind of wonkily... But still...

"I'm not left handed..." (Intimidate check... failure) "I'm also not left handed..."

I'd love some rules for in-combat diplomatic relations.

How often does the hero win by not only besting (but not necessarily stabbing until unconscious) his foe but also by winning the moral or rhetorical high ground? All the frikkin' time.

It'd be awesome if there were rules for morale bonuses / penalties, so you could do startling revelations in the middle of combat and they would have an effect on that combat's outcome.

I'll just go write that now... :)

"Luke, I am your father" :)

On topic: I had a homebrew feat that let a fighter (monk, etc) gain a bonus to hit the longer a one-on-one fight continued. Trying to represent the mechanics of learning/adopting combat styles. I relied on players for the witty out-takes :)

I was going to use that quote as an example, but really by the time Vader got around to saying it, Luke was already "disarmed" (IYKWIM).

Still, it did have the effect of totally demoralizing him. :)

I'm going to tear off your skin, then I'll wear it and roll around in broken glass, and then I'll put it back on YOU!

Some of those lines were golden from that episode...I wish I hadn't deleted it.

Ogre facing Swashbuckler: "So, you're using Captain Caveman's two-handed overhead smash against me?"

Dragon facing Swashbuckler: "So you're using Smaug's Swoop and Swallow against me?"

I think for a duelling game, the opposing maneuvers thing would be interesting, but for a DnD game where a good chunk of the opponents are monsters the idea doesn't seem immediately appealing (granted, I haven't though much more about it than above).
