Solars too weak?

Can someone explain to me how a +1 good outsider bane weapon beats epic DR? Is it just that the extra 2d6 damage will mean you'll get throught the 15 fairly regularly? Or am I missing something?

You cast Greater Magic Weapon on it to make it +4 or +5.

Bane causes a weapon's enhancement bonus to be considered 2 higher against the appropriate creature. So against a Solar, the +4 Good-Outsiderbane weapon is considered +6... sufficient to beat Epic DR.

Just powering past a Solar's DR isn't really a winning strategy, since it regenerates anything that doesn't bypass its DR anyway...

You use a greater magic weapon spell to enchant the weapon up to +4, then bane kicks in making it +6, which overcomes epic DR.

Edit- Darn you HYPERSMURF!

Isn't that all a bit... virtual? Don't you actually have to have a +6 weapon?

For purposes of attacking a Good Outsider, it is a +6 weapon.

"Against its designated foe, its effective enhancement bonus is +2 better than its normal enhancement bonus."

"A few very powerful monsters are vulnerable only to epic weapons; that is, magic weapons with at least a +6 enhancement bonus."

The effective enhancement bonus against its designated foe is +6; therefore, it is a magic weapon with at least a +6 enhancement bonus.

Nope, it's cheese, but it works :D

I'm not sure I agree that's it's cheese.

You have a weapon that is designed to hurt Angels. It's Angelbane. That's what it's called.

Why is it cheesy if it makes it easier to... hurt Angels?

A bane weapon becoming epic isn't cheese. The part that is (at least approahing) cheese is the GMW portion. I would rule that the weapon you're holding actually has 2 enhancement bonuses, one of its own (+1, +3 vs. good outsiders) and one from GMW. Since the GMW one is always higher, it overlaps, for a constant +5 weapon.
