Speaking of RoTK, does anyone know if they are planning on expanding on Legolas's part in the third movie??? I ask, because it seems that Orlando Bloom has become vedry popular with the adolescent female set and was curious if they are going to "bend" the plot to accomodate this.....

No spider climb!

I heard that, but to me it sounded like Fran Walsh (who said it) was joking as an excuse to cover the gaff -- and it wouldn't explain the same mistake in ROTK (unless they're just trying to be consistent with FotR, which I can see).

Actually Phillipa says that someone asked why Glamdring doesn't glow and she said that she doesn't know. After that PJ made the budget comment, which everyone laughed at.

Just before that PJ mentions that if you look closely you'll see that some of the orcs have hooks on their gloves that let them climb on the walls. Didn't catch that the first time.

My guess is that the "we ran out of money" crack is something of an "in-joke" aimed at the Ralph Bakshi version of LotR - where stuff was done half-arsed and half-done (they just drop the story dead halfway through TTT) because Bakshi's group ran out of money.

If a bunch of Star Wars fanboys can do lightsabers in their free time, I can't imagine New Line would quibble about the extra couple thousand it would take to make swords glow - considering they spent $270 million on the budget.

IOW, IT WAS A JOKE! THEY DIDN'T REALLY RUN OUT OF CASH!

From the last picture, I can infer that they will include the part where Sam kicks ass on a dark, malign force (not unlike our mod).

Oh, and if you reread that scene, you'll understand where the "poor valiant fighter who was along side us in many battles. I get his +3 greatsword" attitude comes from. I mean, how ADnD is that? Sam lifts all of Frodo's magic items. "Sorry, master, but I won't be earning no experience points without that Ring of Invisibility, will I?" :D
