Something missing at GenCon this year?

I noticed the decline in swag this year, but managed to score a decent amount. You just had to know where to look, and be in the right place at the right time, I guess.

As for booth babes, yes, there was a lack of them, but there were some. The Wench card game booth had several, and there were a few others scattered around. Not nearly as many as two years ago though, but about on par with last year.

As for Duct Tape Girl, I saw her, but she didn't have any tape on. She was wearing christmas tree lights wrapped around her legs, though. The 5th Element girl was there, as evidenced by my pic in the post above (she also had a not-quite-so-fit doppleganger elsewhere)

How's this?
That's not her, but that girl's costume beats duct tape's Leelu costume from last year hands down.

As far as free stuff, I really missed the back issues of KoDT in the bag this year, but hey, they can't have an inexhaustible supply, and I'm glad for the freebies I got in 2004. So, thanks Kenzer, for last year's.

The only freebie I got this year was the HeroScape mini Wizbro was giving out.

Really, though, I don't care about the swag or the booth babes, they are a totally insignificant portion of the GC experience to me. Gaming and hanging out with old and new friends is where it's at for this grognard.

Nice! Ahhhhh! Very nice! Yeah, baby, yeah!

That's easily the most gorgeous stormtrooper I've ever seen.
I sent that picture to my wife today asking her how come she never dresses like that.

Now I'm mortally afraid that I'll come home after our D&D game tonight and she'll be waiting for me in bed dressed like a stormtrooper.

BG's comment was good, but Joshua really brought it home. Best laugh I have had all day.

Good luck with the wife.

If she resembles the blonde stormtrooper chick from last year's Gen Con I wouldnt complain at all.

With events at all the different hotels, is indy running the risk of turning into another Wisconsin.

Its unlikely. While all the details remain to be ironed out, the Colts are getting a new retractable roof stadium south of the current RCA dome. After the Colts move, the RCA dome will be demolished and the convention center will expand. In addition, a new Conrad hotel is being built northeast of the Hyatt. When finished it'll be connected to everything else via skywalks.

1) Lack of good swag being given away. Sure the economy is doing fine, but are the gaming companies not booming or are they just not feeling generous?

The economy doing fine is certainly a subject that can and is debated. However, the simple fact is that the hobby game industry, as a whole, is down.

There are plenty of reasons that have been suggested. Ryan Dancey suggested that the Iraq situation has some play in this, because the people deployed there are a key demographic for the industry. The online MMRPGs are taking a big bit, too.
