I know it feels wrong considering the rarity of the specimen, but the first thing I though (after "Of course it had to be in Japan") was about how it would make some kick ass fried calamari rings.

Would have to slice them very thin to get them properly cooked, I think.
 

Probably inedible- as I recall, they have a chemical like ammonia or some such in their systems so they can survive in the ocean's deep, cold waters.
 





It was interesting how it reacted to having divers swimming around it filming it. Almost like swimming around a whale.
