It would definitely be cool but, as you say, unlikely. I would expect to see some form of mathematical pattern in such a thing, as a civilization would be likely to maximize efficiency, and that's the sort of discovery that they'd be shouting to the heavens about.

I doubt it would be a Dyson Swarm. Those might cause unexpected problems for other planets in the solar system.

Maybe it's an asteroid belt of some sort?
