[Somewhat OT] Elric of Melnibone in D20 stats

Doh! Sorry, I didn't think about the class thing when I posted him, assumed it was in the statblock somewhere (shows how well I proofread, huh? :p ) Just for reference, he's a fighter 10 / sorcerer 10 in my version.

Also, I didn't really waste feats for the armor proficiencies: they came as class features from his Fighter levels and PCGen tends to lump things like that together.

As for his spell lists, I would consider things like Protection From Law/Chaos, Magic Circle Against Law/Chaos, the Summon Monster spells, and some all around stuff like Mage Armor, True Strike, that sort of thing.

I'm not quite certain how to stat Stormbringer though. I imagine it as a bastard sword or greatsword, probably something like unholy/vorpal/spell resistance/vampiric.

Obviously straight D&D isn't designed for Moorcock's world (or multiverse), but I think Elric could simply be a high-level Cleric. A Cleric fights well, casts in armor, and can summon extraplanar allies.

I'd ditch close order fighting and set spear, he's not a pikeman, he's Elric! Maybe give him dodge and mobility, he charges into action sword swinging often in little armor.

You also didn't stat out your version of his sword, in DLM it drains 1d100 con points I think, and I can't remember if it is a bastard sword (the name is fitting) or a greatsword.

I would definitely go wizard over sorcerer, he was trained in a library by magic books. Probably give him spell mastery for his few powerful summoning spells he knows how to cast without his spellbook.

I don't have my 1e DDG here but anybody have his stats from there? I remember he had some assassin levels and was CE, but probably fighter and MU as well.

Yeah, that's why I think he's actually more of a sorceror than a wizard. Although he would probably have some basic utility spells like Mage Armor and Cat's Grace as well.... a few things we don't 'know' about to give him a combat power boost perhaps.

I don't remember him pulling anything like that in the books.

Hmm..that's pretty compelling except for all the healing they can do.

Elric was :):):):)ing awful at keeping himself healthy/strong.

That's why the sword was so much a part of him.

According to the old Dieties & Demigods, Elric was a 10th-level Cleric, 5th-level Druid, 15th-level Fighter, 19th-level Magic-User, 10th-level Illusionist, 10th-level Assassin -- with 45 Hit Points.

Frankly, I think almost none of that fits.

As I said, "Obviously straight D&D isn't designed for Moorcock's world (or multiverse)." I don't remember any healing magic. Anyway, if we just gave Elric spells appropriate to a Chaotic Cleric, he might come out all right.

Yeah, maybe. Your observation that clerics"fight well, wear armor, and summon planar allies" was spot-on though.
