Songs that could be about RPGs, but aren't

Savatage - The Dungeons Are Calling
The Cult - She Sells Sanctuary
Manowar - Dark Avenger
Impellitteri - Slay the Dragon
Twisted Sister - Destroyer
Tad - Wood Goblins

I've recently thought that "Temptation Waits" by Garbage could be reinterpreted as a World of Darkness song about the relationship between a vampire and a mortal "blood doll" or a ghoul. :)

Used on the soundtracks from previous campaigns...

A Question of Honor, Sarah Brightman

Manic Star and Center of the Sun, Conjure One

Got to thank my ex-wife for these finds. She has quite the ear for gaming music.

Too true! Those are the two that came up on my playlist in short succession and inspired me to post here though.

You could pin it down to just two Dio songs?
His 80s stuff was practically a D&D soundtrack!

And as far as what Holy Diver is all about? I have no idea. I've heard religion and drugs. But that pretty much covers 99% of songs written between 1960 to present.

Red Barchetta by Rush

Nod, also by Rush in a D&Dish mood rather than sci-fi:
- By-Tor and Snowdog
- The Necromancer
- A Fairwell to Kings
- Closer to the Heart
- Rivendell
- Xanadu
- Madrigal

In sci-fi-ish mood, the Rush list goes on a long time, but I'd have to include "2112". "Attention all planets of the solar federation, attention all planets of the solar federation, we have assumed control, we have assumed control." That's kinda Rush's answer to "The Hammer of the Gods will drive our ships to new lands".

Speaking of Zep, "Ramble On", "Immigrant Song", "Gallows Pole", and "Battle of Evermore" have been mentioned. I also like to nominate:
- "Stairway to Heaven" ("there's a feeling I get when I look to the West, and my spirit is crying for leaving" -- if that ain't a Tolkien elf talking, I've never heard one)
- "Tangerine" ("she is my queen/ a thousand years between" -- another Elvish song)
- "Kashmir" ("I sit with elders of a gentle race" -- more elves, also desert adventures)
- "No Quarter"
- "Over the Hills and Far Away"
- "Misty Mountain Hop" (really, the title much more than the actual song!)

Allow me to embrace my 80's Glam bands for a moment-

Motley Crue-

Wild Side
Danger
If looks could kill
Bastard
Kickstart my Heart

Slaughter

Up all Nite

Skid Row

Piece of me

also-
Rainbow Warriors

We didn't Start the Fire (Billy Joel)

a lot from Queensreich (sp)

Rob Zombie I'm sure has some songs that tell a (horror) tale or two

Ace of Spades

so many.

I was wondering if anyone was going to mention these Rush tunes. They are totally D&D.

I'd add "Swords of a Thousand Men" by Tenpole Tudor.

Veteren of the Psychic Wars by Blue Oyster Cult

Okay, so it was originally penned by Michael Moorcock about Elric -- but it can just as easily be about pretty much any D&D fantasy setting that prominantly features psionics (Dark Sun, I'm looking at you).

That song would be Black Blade by Blue Oyster Cult, which is directly about Elric and his sword.
