Time to fess up ya'll.

With the numerous threads of how to get rid of a player, should I get rid of a player I want to here the other side of the story. Have any of you ever been kicked out of game?

I'll start: Durning High school I was pretty shy and made up for it by being sacastic and joking. Well I was sarcastic A LOT durning the game, seems a few of the players and the DM weren't to hot about that and asked me to leave. I was crushed. They told me why. After some retrospect I saw where they were coming from. After getting a job a few months later and working with a bunch of different people I like to think I changed my ways.

I've never been kicked out a game. And I pity the foo' who'd try!

But seriously--I'm an easy-going kinda guy who works with others, tries to fit in, and also happens to be the DM (and owns all the books).

The only person I've ever kicked out of a game was my whining little nephew (age: 15). He kept complaining that if things didn't go his way (if his PC didn't get the magic sword, if his PC didn't get a Cure Light Wound cast on his 1 hp damage, if his PC actually had to pay to sleep at the inn) he would quit. So finally I kicked him out with the advice, "Never ever threaten to leave if you don't get your way, 'cause I'll just kick you out again."

(That has nothing to do with your story, though. Just my own limited XP. :) )

Yeah, I've been kicked out of a game...at least I remember it that way. I had just moved to Toledo and was looking for a group to game with. I stumbled across a group that played a modern Call of Cthulhu game. My character was a rich, spoiled southern debutante who happened to be living in Boston (where the game was set). From the get go, the other characters seemed to dislike her, which is fine; she was spoiled after all. What I didn't like was that their distasete seemed to carry over to me. I can't recall if they didn't ask me to come back or if I just decided not too (there were no long heart to hearts), but it was still pretty close to getting kicked out.

I've kicked or uninvited two people from my own games, due to personality conflicts and maturity differences.

I've only had to deal with loosing a group once. I had found the group in the factory I worked at after getting out of school. The guy who ran things was an amazing gamer and he taught me a lot about both playing and running games.

One night, one of the other group members brought this girl with them. She had participated with other folks in my group in a recent LARP (I didn't do live action, so I hadn't met her). She and I clicked pretty much immediately, and within 24 hours we were an item.

A month later she and I parted ways in a rather explosive breakup. She, now the GM's wife's best friend, continued to go to the weekly games; and it was made fairly clear that I was less than welcome.

I grabbed some of the more well-known gamers from around town shortly after that and started up my own gaming group. People have come and gone, but the group I put together still plays every other week 8 years after all that went down.

Kicked out? No.

But high school blew for me. With only so many people around that played D&D, there were few options of who you got to play with.

Some people I absolutely refused to play with for various reasons (mouthy blowhard, militaristic jerk, smarmy bastard, drug fiend, and so on). But the usual central person was nice to everyone. So basically I was never kicked out, but if I wanted to play, I had to play with people that I wouldn't have fun with. Some choice.

I'm not sure whether I've been kicked out of games.

There's been two roleplaying groups where I went to a single session, and was told that when they got together again, I'd get a call.

Since both groups were missing about half their players due to personal commitments, and were just starting up, it's entirely possible that the groups just died.

Or that they judged me unworthy and just didn't invite me back.

Who knows?

I've deliberately tried to be ejected from a game and things got out of control the whole group ended up imploding. Catastrophic campaign collapse, etc.

My character turned out to be central to the plot and the DM was afraid to ruin the story so he refused to put me at any significant risk, going to ridiculous lengths to contrive reasons that my character wouldn't get hurt. After a bit of that and getting bored with the railroading storyline... well who can blame me?

Kicked out? No, but I once quit because of a continual conflict with other players. I was soon followed by half of the remaining group, including the DM.

I was invited to a game with a coworker once, and halfway through it, a good friend called me to tell me his dad has passed away. I hung up, and explained why I had to leave, and the DM's best friend rolled his eyes and huffed, "Sure. Whatever." I never regretted a moment not going back to that group.

Ya know I was never KOd from any groups, no matter how sarcastic I was as my friends were the same way, but I was barred from playing Malkavians in Vampire and Kender in D&D in 2 different groups in 2 different cities.

Heh.
