Sorcerer & Incantatrix spezialization

Derren

Hero
When you take the Incantatrix PRC you get a specialization in abjuration, even if you are a sorcerer, am I right ?
What does a sorcerer get for specializing, or does he only has a disadvantage ?

Sorcerer/Incatatrix

Well as I was playing my character I became a 5 Sorcerer/10 Incatatrix and working on Archmage. Basically what happened when I became a Incatatrix is I became specialized in Abujration but I had to pick a school I was barred from (Enchantment was my choice since I was not going to pick any other enchantment spells at higher levels). When I gained a level I got an extra spell from my specialized school and only one per level. Made for a really frightening and powerful caster. This is how my group ruled on what happened.

YMMV

From a balance-point-of-view (mine at least), the Sorcerer should get only the disadvantages for specializing (not really any disadvantages anyways, since you keep your spells learned until then) and definitely no extra spells per day!

Maybe the bonus on Spellcraft checks! ;)

Well, any other opinions ?

The text in the MaoF goes like :"Sorcerer and Bards must still choose a forbidden school to gain the bonuses for specialization" (Sorry if I´m not correct, I don´t have the book in front of me.)

The possibilities are:

- Sorcerers can cast more abjuration spells a day.
- Sorcerers know more abjuration spells
- both
- nothing of the above.

A specialist can prepare an additional spell per day of the chosen school. A sorcerer would need the Arcane Preparation feat to gain any use of this, IMHO.
