Sorcerer PRCs

Corlon

First Post
I've been looking for a good sorcerer prc lately, and I can't really find one.

I like my PRCs to have some interesting abilities that you can use (so not the elemental savant with + to dc, and elemental resistance, immunity to sleep and stuff), and I like them to, usually anyway, not cause the character to be a freak (geomancer, alienist, etc.) and in spell casting, I usually like +1 to spells every level.

That's a bit heavy criteria, but I was wondering what good PRCs you like for your sorcerers?

i know it's called ArchMage, but sorceror works really well for it, especially if your DM is allowing metamagic rods, or a metamagic varient rule. i had one before who was unstoppable.

So that's a no on dragon disciples then. :p

I've always been a big fan of the PGtF's Incantatrix PrC, and I enjoy the War Wizard PrC (despite it's name) for a good long range army-killin' Sorcerer type.

Though I'd recommend the Shadowcrafter (FR-Underdark) for a great shadow conjuration/evocation caster. A great series of spells, especially for a Sorcerer. This PrC is at the top of my list for my next Sorcerer character.

The incantatrix is a very sorcerous PrC and now it's even more sorcerer friendly, since you don't even have to get a cross class skill to 8 ranks to qualify for it. :)

Or you could check out the Player's Guide to Wizards, Bards and Sorcerers by Sword and Sorcery Studios. It has all kinds of nifty PrCs in it, like the Angelblooded:

A sorcerer of celestial descent who gains access to a small number of divine spells, grows wings (fluffy, feathery type), can use his spell slots to boost his party cleric's turning and has a familiar with the celestial template, among other things ;)

My sorcerer is currently using a PrC from the S&S book called "Adept of the Flame" - albeit heavily modified downwards - by the book it had an insane power level.

We've called it "Servant of the sacred fire" in our campaign. The key bits that made this interesting were

entry cost: lose 2 CON in the ritual that turns your blood into ephemeral fire.

* gradually increasing fire resistance, eventually receiving immunity

* at 6th level half of all fire damage is divine damage and thus not affected by fire resistance (rather necessary if you want to specialise as a fire user!)

* eventually those who strike you with natural weapons take fire damage as your fiery blood spurts out over them.

Just a little sidenote.

Am I the only one who finds it weird, that a class, that is based on turning you into a 'living torch' (;)) reduces the amount of fire damage you do?

I mean, yeah, it's surely convenient, but seems a bit out of place. Of course, if one is stressing that sacred part of the PrC... :)
