Shades of Green

I was playing Morrowing when it hit me: "Soul Gems" and soul-hunting could provide D&D item crafting with an interesting twist. Not only will the items be powered by a soul gem, but (unlike Morrowind), I thought about the kind of soul in the gem determining (some of?) the object's attributes. The idea is that killing a creature in the presence of a prepared soul-gem (with a much lower-level version of Trap the Soul cast on the creature) results in the creature's soul, or a portion thereof, trapped in the gem.
