Soul Knife Question.

Is there a way a soul knife to produce blades out of his body like spikes to attack a grappler? And how can a soul knife be good / useful without house rules?

1/ Decide what edition you're asking about.

2/ Post in the forum for the rules of that edition.

3/ The answer is "no", but go do 1 & 2 anyway.

It's cool, I moved it over.

No, they can't by the rules. I'd probably allow it as a house rule for a feat, though. Nice flavor.

And I think soul knives in 3.5 psionics work pretty well without house rules. I had a player with one for a time, and she was just amazingly effective.

IIRC, Hyperconscious offers a slightly improved Soulknife class progression. It also has a nice prestige class for soulknifes who are interested in picking up a couple of powers.

Have you looked at the Soulbow prestige class from Complete Psion?

There's also been an article in the Mind's Eye series that offers two nice class options.

You'll also find nice feats and additional prestige classes in 'Races of Eberron' and 'Secrets of Sarlona'.

Ah...Soulknife...The most flavorful class.

to your first question: No. I'd ask the DM is you can have a feat to do so.

To your second: I suggest highly this combo:

Race: Something with a nice DEX modifier. Like say Catfolk or Elf
Class: Soulknife 5/OA Samurai 3/Incarnate 2/Iaijutsu Master 10

because the soulknife's "quick creation" ability counts as Quick Draw, you "draw" your psycarnum katana/daisho and slash your foe across his throat >;3
