Soulknife improvements?

I just started running a Kalashstar soulknife in an Eberron game.

2 soulknife/1 psion (egoist).

Kalashstar make great psions (1 extra pp/level).

Anyway there are a whole bunch of real good soulknife feats in the setting (make sure to check out Races of Eberron also).

Soulblade Warrior is great racial soulknife feat. Manifest mindblade as swift action (normally the class gets this ability at 5th level) and then adds +1 to level for purposes of determining what enhancement(s) can be used.

Also took the first racial substitution level - which granted the ability to align the weapon (good) as a free action for 1 pp and lasting 1 round. Also adds holy to the list of enhancements (+2).

I echo the earlier post that there are several good soulknife feats in the Eberron books including at least one tactical feat.

It is an interesting class, although I liked it better as a prc personally.

I think the main problems with the class are the medium bab progression and the small amount of choices for enhancements. If either of those were fixed up I think it'd cut down on a lot of the complaints.

They have always struck me as a class that is a great idea, but somewhat poor implimentation, but it is certainly playable as is.

In a slightly odd note I would prefer that the fighter class was perked up a little and soulknife was turned into a pile of feats.. I feel that it would fix up a lot of problems at the same time.. and make for a much more interseting style of building ;)

When it comes to the SoulKnife, I think Wizards really dropped the ball.

Eberron did quite well at "picking it up" per se.

The Class is not underpowered, it is undernourished. As otheres have said, there are very few feats in existence aimed specifically for them (although, if you check these boards, you might still find a few I made a long time ago). The other problem with the SoulKnife is that there aren't very many options in the class. THe fighter gets his feats, the ranger his skill tree, the Wizard his spells... the soulknife gets none of this. The other classes he shares this ... inflexibility with are the barbarian, the Cleric (technically), the Druid, the Monk, and the Paladin. However. all of these classes have ways in which they shine compared to all others. The SoulKnife, on the other hand, is merely a specialized, slightly psionic fighter.

Of course, when multiclasing enters play, the game changes completely. 9 or 10 levels of soulknife, colorfully combined with 1 level of psion and then maxing out elocater makes gods.

In addition to the most obvious multiclass option of Pyrokineticist, consider taking the Spellfire Wielder Feat if its allowed. The ability to absorb spell energy and convert it into healing power or bolts of magical force (no energy resistance to THAT) can be NASTY!
