Trailer Spaceballs 2: Not the Quest for More Money

My first exposure to The Orville was coming across it while channel surfing.
I think within 3 mins there was a joke about glory holes. Other than that it felt like a blatant Next Gen rip-off.
I'll take an ambitious and original idea like Discovery over that every day of the week.
the first half of the first season, I can respect this notion. I can say it dramatically improved, they toned down the fart jokes and added in a lot more depth of drama and plot. Honestly by the 2nd season it was no longer a ST parody, it was more ST than ST to me.

Like I say, I'll probably never know as I avoid anything that MacFarlane is involved in.
Maybe if I ever see anybody say anything good about the show that isn't just a dig at Star Trek I might check it out.
But that's never happened.

Apologies to have taken the thread on a bit of a tangent.
For the record, the original Spaceballs had some good skits but was pretty terrible as an actual movie IMO.
I don't hold out much hope for this one given the discourse around Star Wars over the past decade.

No digs at Trek. I've loved it since 1966. They did make a few choices that change things a bit though. The one biggest choice is likely that they don't have a Transporter analog. They shuttle everywhere. After season 1 they blend the humour with some quite serious topics incredibly well, in the spirit of some of the best Trek.
