Careful of the trademarks! That's "Der Schwartz"!Boner pills for the force?
Undercover Boss: Starkiller Base is pretty darn funny. And that Adam Driver was involved, that really brought it over the top.But also a lot of parodies of that material. That ground's a lot more well-trodden than it was back then.
Maybe if I ever see anybody say anything good about the show that isn't just a dig at Star Trek I might check it out.
But that's never happened.
For the record, the original Spaceballs had some good skits but was pretty terrible as an actual movie IMO.
After season 1 they blend the humour with some quite serious topics incredibly well, in the spirit of some of the best Trek.
Given the ages of the cast, I expect a bunch of geriatric jokes. One in particular, involving Light Sabers, immediately comes to mind.
agreed, you are really rolling the dice on that one.I have to wonder what they do if Mel doesn't quite make it to see it come to the screen...
To be more specific, they dropped the toilet humour, for the most part. I was also glad to see the "Could you open this jar of pickles for me?" go the way of the Dodo. After season 1? With respect, "About a Girl" is Season 1, Episode 3.
One of the things that made Spaceballs: The Original work was that it had it's own humour and was doing its own thing while riffing on Star Wars/Trek/Aliens/etc, rather than trying to be some outright parody or by simply mocking those sci-fi series. If they come at it from that direction again, and have good writers to back it up, then it could well work again! (And if not, well.... )The further away the History of the World TV series people are from this the better. I hope it’s good.
While Brooks is involved in the movie, he is not actually the driving creative force. Benji Samit, Dan Hernandez and Josh Gad wrote the script, while Josh Greenbaum (Barb & Star Go to Vista Del Mar, Strays) is directing. Gad called the script “the funniest and best thing” he’s ever worked on in a 2024 Instagram post.
