Special mounts/companions/familiars = ally for bard music?

Would you consider a paladin's mount, druid's companion, or sorcerer/wizard's familiar to count as an "ally," as the term is meant for the purpose of who benefits from bardic music such as inspire courage? Would/wouldn't this count all the time, or only if the beast in question belonged to the bard character using the ability and not the beast of one of the bard's allies?

Yes, I'd count all the attendant creatures in the party as allies. They don't have to belong to the bard, either, any more than the fighter has to. :p

Hmm. I wonder what sort of Bluff check might be required to convince the fighter otherwise...?

hong, try the good old Bluff:
"Luke, I am your father. Kill that petty bard next to you for me please, I know you never liked his wailing, right?"
