Spectral Hand & AoO's

T-Bone

First Post
I was just wondering, if a wizard had Spectral Hand cast, and then cast a touch spell like Chill Touch, or Shocking Grasp, asuming he's holding the charge, does he threaten with Attacks of Opportunity? At what range, does the spectral hand give him "reach"?.

Example of the problem is Shocking Graps cast, the touch attack misses, but the spell is still held as a charge. The opponent that I missed with the touch attack now draws and attack of opportunity. The Spectral Hand with the Shocking Grasp spell is in the same square with the character I missed. Now that character draws an AoO from drinking a potion. Can I use my Scocking Grasp on him?

Spectral Hand does not extend the Wizard's reach, and does not itself threaten any aquare.

So, wether you have spectral hand going or not, a touch spell only allows you to threaten within your natural reach (5' for most PCs).

In your example, if the Wizard is currently threatening the square in which the person is drinking that potion, then the Wizard gets an AoO and can use whatever legal means are at his disposal to effect that AoO. Otherwise the answer is no.
