D&D (2024) Speculation on the art in the new core books

Huh. I remember those pictures, but I had not noticed the horn until it became all rhino-like. You are right.
I suspect many who learned D&D before 3rd edition were also greatly influenced by Elmore's art during the 80s and 90s. Lots of Dragonlance art features majestic-looking blue dragons without nose horns. When I think AD&D dragons I think Elmore, not Monster Manual.
