Speed Enchant: Why is it a poor choice?

My sarcasm check exceeded your sense motive.

So it would appear. I thought you were one of the posters on the "Planning ahead is evil munchkinry!" side of the last debate on the subject...? but perhaps it was someone else whose handle started with a k.

I just looked this one up: It seems to be from the 3.0 Enemies and Allies book, in a sidebar on page 20. Not all DM's like 3.0 material, sometimes with good reason.

Sometimes with good reason, yes, but on the whole the 3.0 weapon enchantments don't tend to be objectionable.

cjosephs1s, since your DM objected for reasons other than it being a 3.0 source, I'd suggest looking through Sword and Fist and A&EG, if you have access to them; I seem to remember there being a few nice enchantments in there that didn't make it into 3.5 material, though I can't recall the specifics at the moment.

Actually, I was the one who brought the chess analogy to that thread with the intent of pointing out that chess also encourages planning without explicitly stating it in the rules. Then, I was subject to flames from a couple of people who, for some reason, can never get into a decent PrC...

Collision's better for archers and possibly for TWF than for melee, since for the price you could just get a +2 enchantment and PA that into a +4 damage bonus.

Not in all cases. If you are already PAing for your whole BAB, or if your weapon is already a +5 or higher (either naturally or via Greater Magic Weapon).

Possibly, but most enchants are equivalent/inferior to some feat combo or another. So you gotta figure out which ones you wanna use with your feats and abilities, cause no one this side of level 70 has all of the feats and abilities.
