Spell cating time

If i am reading a scroll with legends and lore what would be the casting time for the spell?
Normally it would be hours or days when castet normally depending on the subject .
If one uses a scroll could you shorten the casting time?

Not unless it's a scroll with the proper type of Metamagic Spell on it (i.e. Rapid or Quicken Spell).

pg 4 of the Spell Compendium has captured the "rulings" from Sage Advice on the subject.

"Activating a spell completion item, activating a spell triger item, or drinking a potion is a standard action even if the spell from which the scroll, potion, or item is made can be cast as a swift action, In other words, it takes a standard action to drink a potion of quick march, even though casting the spell itself requires only a swift action."

That's the opposite question, though - that deals with spells with short casting times, not spells with long casting times.

For a spell with a one day casting time, the relevant rule is on p213 of the DMG:

Activating a magic item is a standard action unless the item description indicates otherwise. However, the casting time of a spell is the time required to activate the same power in an item, whether it's a scroll, a wand, or a pair of boots, unless the item description specifically states otherwise.

What is the casting time of Legend Lore? It varies, but let's go with 1d10 days for this example. What's the time required to activate Legend Lore from a scroll? 1d10 days, unless the item description states otherwise. Does the description of scrolls state otherwise? It does not.

So, the time required to activate a scroll of Legend Lore is 1d10 days.
