Spell Hiding (Spellcraft opposed Rolls)

As I think about it, it is damn useful to know exactly what your enemy is casting with a spellcraft roll of 15 + spell level. What if said mage wanted to hide what he was trying to cast? How would he do it?

As a variant, I'm thinking of having a "hidden" spell take an extra action (partial or move-equivalent) in order to make the spellcraft check an opposed roll instead of a flat 15 + spell level. Any thoughts?

Quick example: Mith the mage wants to cast haste on his fighter buddy. He spends his entire round casting the spell in order to hide it from an opposing cleric. The two make opposed spellcraft checks, Mith wins the opposed check and the cleric is unsure what was just cast.

Sound good, or no? Thanks!

I've included a new Feat in my House Rules called "Masking". When you take that Feat you are then able to 'invert' the flows of magic in order to hide it from standard Spellcraft checks and even Detect Magic checks.

It costs you a spell slot of the same level that you use to cast the spell. So if you wanted to Mask a Charm Person, it would cost you 1 slot to cast it and one slot to mask it.

Now this doesn't say anything about being able to hide your somatic or verbal components. But it would come in handy when laying down some form of magical trap and masking over it to leave no trace. (snicker)

It would be good to make a feat like so make is harder to idenfy the spells you cast there is one in Magic of Faerun if you can get it. It adds +5 to the DC for idefing the spell. So there could be other ones like it.
