Spell Immunity vs. Energy Substitution

Hello everyone,

For the purposes of "Spell Immunity", does a spell modified by the "Energy Substitution" feat count as the same or a different spell?

For instance, say that you cast "Spell Immunity" and choose to be immune to "Fireball." Are you still immune if you're hit by a "Cold Fireball" created via the Energy Substitution feat? Or do you take full damage?

Yep, same spell regardless of any metamagic feats. To take it to an extreme: An enhanced maximized empowered energy substituted (cold) Fireball is still just a fireball as far as spell immunity, counterspelling and other similar things are concerned. It takes an 12th level slot to cast, but it's a 3rd level spell as far as other game effects are concerned.

The exception, of course, is heightening the fireball beyond 4th level because then it's no longer a spell that spell immunity can block. But, since people rarely ever use heighten, this exception is mostly hypothetical.
