I believe it's DC 25 + highest level actually - a pretty tough roll, especially at lower levels. However, I can't find the amount of time it takes - anyone?

J

10 days + 1 day per spell in the book.

to the original poster...

i recommend a Boccob's Blessed Book (or whatever Deity makes magic spell books in your campaign). free to put spells in! only 9500 gp! =)

Unfortunately, it only has 45 pages (just 5 9th level spells). It's really nice for a low-level caster with nothing but low-level spells. As you become higher level though, you need a bag of holding just to carry all of those around.

Actually the text says:

The pages of Baccob's Blessed book freely accept spells scribed upon them, and any such book can contain up to forty-rive spells of any level.

So, all spells must only take up one page. Not a problem.

Got it. Yeah, "45 pages" vs. "45 spells" makes a big ol' difference. No wonder I though it was kinda worthless. Whoops.

Boccobs book - IIRC - takes 45 SPELLS - regardless of the number of pages...

so if you had 45 9th level spells - they COULD wind up in one book...

As far as the MoF rules - I count captured spellbooks as party treasure - 100 gp per spell page.

I allow a similar conversion method to MoF - but not identical.

Uh, a bit late on that, don't ya' think? I'm not being rude, but, do you read all of the posts before you reply. Just pokin' at ya', but sorta serious at the same time. ;)

Interesting. I've been trying to decide if I should count captured spellbooks as part of treasure, and if so, how much they would be worth. I still haven't made a decision on that though.
