He escaped. They are still trying to get him back in the page. This is becoming a problem. They are still trying to round up all of the creatures that escaped and pushed back the update to the basic edition.

Mearls did warn us that the Monster Manual couldn't hold them all!
 


Those Lair Actions are truly Legendary! By the time you've defeated it, you're 1 year old, 50 years have passed, and you find yourself in Gehenna!

Also, plane shift certainly accounts for WotC's difficulty of holding the Sphinx on the website
 


Pretty good take on sphinxes, definitely powered up from their previous incarnations.

Those lair actions are a weird mix, from the minimally effective to the argument inducing to the completely brutal. It could make for some cool plot points, but mixing campaign-altering plot point powers with rerolling initiative is pretty odd.

I'm not a big fan of seeing monsters immune to non-magical weapons again. I was okay leaving that with 2nd Edition.

Nice shout-out to White Plume Mountain! I was all "that riddle sounds super familiar..."
