Spider Familiar?

Anyone know of any rules on having a monstrous spider famliar? I know that the FRCS has one for Hairy Spider from the Monsters of Faerun book, but anyone know of one for a normal spider?

I too only remember the FR's hairy spider... Can you try to just adapt the Tiny Monstrous Spider from the MM? It would probably be better if there was a Diminutive Monstrous Spider (in which case, probably it's not much monstrous anymore ), but there isn't in the MM. Maybe you can estrapolate its stat somehow by backward-using the advancement rules with size increase.

Would a Tiny Monstrous spider be too powerful to use as a familiar?

I wouldn't have called it to powerful to use as a familiar. Maybe a bit more then the others but no more. As a comromise either give it no benefit of a poor one, +2 to climb? If climb isn't used as much..... Or something else that is linked but not really any use.

Not really. I would prefer a Diminutive version as I mentioned before, which would probably imply lower strength (e.g. from 3 to 1), lower strength damage by poison (e.g. from 1d2 to 1), lower speed (e.g. from 20 to 10) and worse web (e.g. from 2hp to 1hp) but better hide bonus. However the Tiny Monstous Spider seems quite on par with the Tiny Viper Snake which is a standard familiar.
