Spiderman

First Post
Finally Spiderman started in Australia and I managed to see it.

I must say I was really quite impressed. The most enjoyable live-action comic adaption for quite some time. Probably since the Crow. Kirsten as MJ wasnt as bad as I expected (from some reviews). She even got a 'tiger' line.

Sure there are a few things I could pick at...like some of the CG shots looked a little fake, or adaption choices like organic webshooters and the Green Goblins costume design. But overall I was really impressed. I even liked the film version of MJ more than I thought I would.

I certainly much preferred it over Episode II.

I cant wait for Spidey 2. Too bad Sam isnt going to be able to use Kingpin though.

You're right.
I've just seen it yesterday and was impressed, too.

Especially that

But also the depth of all characters, the casting, just a great movie.

why can't Raimi use Kingpin? He used "Ash" (the announcer at wrestling)

You are correct, Kingpin is in Daredevil which means he can't be in Spiderman II. Raimi has stated that his next villian will not wear a mask. He wants greater emotional content, which is hard while acting through a mask. I'm just curious if they will be able to get Kingpin right. He's a very large and yet powerful character. A mountain of muscle.

Yeah. The companies involved in Daredevil & Spiderman could not agree to allow the character of Kingpin in Spiderman II.

From whats been said, Doc Occ seems to be the front running villain - there's also been talk of Blackcat being in Spidey too. Most of which has come from comments by Kirsten.

I think they'll get it right. The part is being played by Michael Clark Duncan (John Coffey in The Green Mile, among other roles). The man certainly has the build and presence, and he can act...

They could do something with aquaman if they are looking for emotion.

But how are they going to do the next movie? Though I didn't see the movie, I am pretty sure they spent atleast 1/3 of the movie detaling spiderman's overall developement (getting his abilities and then his training) into the friendly neighborhood spider.

Rumor has it that the next movie will involve both the Lizard Man and Doctor Octopus. Since the Spider-Man character will already be established by that movie, there's no need to go into his history - leaving room for developing two villains.

And here's hoping the Spiderman franchise doesn't fall prey to the same problems the Batman movies have. Too many villains and making the villains more important to the movie than the heros. Still not sure how they'll do Doc Oc without people laughing.:)
