Then what happens when you take the two halves sixty feet from each other? Where is the silence spell?
I imagine the spell remains on biggest piece (roll random if equal size)

...similar to how trolls regenerate from the largest piece.

HeapThaumaturgist, what you want are a few Rings of Counterspelling. Put in the appropriate spell (Dispel Magic or Greater Dispel Magic) and Ta-Da! no more Dispel Magics.

It even works for area Dispel Magic. Cool, huh?

Well, the wording on RoCounterspelling is ambiguous and the GM decided to rule that area-dispels don't trigger the ring.

Second, it's not just one or two targeted dispels, it's 3-6 targeted dispels every single round from either SLAs or Sorcs or combinations of those groups while being harried by Stuff You Need Protection From ... either other casters with Death spells or creatures with no-save ability drain attacks or a Huge monster with a +30-+40 grapple check, 50-70 damage per round, and a swallow whole effect. The casters themselves are floating on a small lake of dangerous "stuff" that we need a spell to protect us from so they're basically unreachable without a few spells that grant immunities and flight, and they strip the immunities and flight in the first round or two of combat.

So we've tried Ring of Counterspelling ... which doesn't work on bursts, doesn't work on Dispel Magic as Spell-Like Ability, and only stops one of 3 incoming targeted dispell SPELLS when it does work. We've tried Mirror Images, but True Seeing counters that and even when it doesn't it just prolongs the inevitable because they have a seemingly unlimited number of dispells and a seemingly unlimited number of mook-casters and surviving 2 rounds instead of 1 round before every single spell in effect on your character gets stripped doesn't really do anything but prolong the inevitable defeat.

At this point we're trying to see if there's a Tenser's Tactical Orbital Nuke.

Wow.

Okay, so the situation is the casters are floatin' above some sort of nasty lake, etc? And they are hitting you with a spell-like ability Dispel Magic? Yoowza. This is just one encounter, right? (And not the way the campaign has always been....)

If the Dispel Magics are spell-like abiliities, then the Rings of Counterspell won't work, nor will Silence, as (Sp) powers don't have verbal components.

Special Abilities: A special ability is either extraordinary (Ex), spell-like (Sp), or supernatural (Su).

Spell-Like: Spell-like abilities are magical and work just like spells (though they are not spells and so have no verbal, somatic, material, focus, or XP components). They go away in an antimagic field and are subject to spell resistance if the spell the ability resembles or duplicates would be subject to spell resistance.
Anything else you can tell us about the set-up? Like why you signed up for this world-o-hurt? :)

Alright, thinking this through a bit more:

You need to cut off Line of Effect, and with something that's not dispelable. I'm thinking : Wall of Stone, although any instantaneous effect would work.

...all of this depends on what that "lake" is made of.

I think it's fun to shoot spellcasters with silenced arrows.
Lots of fun, not very effective. See discussion of silence on the tanglefoot bag. Bag destroyed the silence spell ends (RAW IMHO), Unless your DM rules otherwise. Add that to all arrows that hit the target are destroyed, half of those that miss are destroyed.

I forget, can you cast an Anti-Magic Field on your familiar? If so I'd toss my hawk (raven, gerbil with a firecracker strapped to his back) familiar with one of those on and watch as these super sorcs turn to power pansies.

What level's the party?

About Antimagic Field - I think may be possible to get it on your familiar, through which ability I don't remember. Share Spells may or may not be the one with the option to either put spells on both of you or put a spell with target: you on your familiar instead.
Just hope they don't notice the familiar.

Well, in an antimagic field I'd still be a capable combatant ... Rage and the like. We're all magic+other but for the full-class caster-cleric.

The thing is, it's hard to function entirely without magic while the opposing side has full access to magic and/or a Huge sized thug standing by to beat you down to the tune of 60-70 damage a round.

I'd be hard-pressed to say there's a group of 4 14th-level D&D characters that could honestly handle the encounter ... especially since they added a lich of some sort to the mix. Spellcasters, melee fighters, huge monster, and a lich ... all of at least 10th+ level, the lich throwing out 8th level spells.
