Splatbooks to Beware of?

Is this really a problem with the Incantatrix abilities, or with the spells/feats being used?

How so?

Instant Metamagic can only be used, if the modified spell level is equal to or lower than your highest spell level. Do you use it that way?

Is this a house rule? I just read incantrix out of PGtF, and I didn't see anything about not being able to instant metamagic a spell to a higher level than you could cast. It specifically states the metamagic feat affects the spell without raising the level.

Dire Weasels deal d4 unsaveable Con damage per round while attached (their special ability).

So you ride your massively advanced Dire Weasel (every level you have is advancing it with this build) into combat and attach. Normally, while they're attached their AC drops to 12, but you use Mounted Combat to protect it while it exsanguinates your victim and you full attack them. After a spirited charge to shave off a bunch of HP.

We have a winner here, "exsanguinates." Haven't seen that one in ages.

You do realize that the Mounted Combat feat is only usable once per round? By the time you get your massively enhanced dire weasel, your opponents will likely have multiple, nasty attacks. It's a strong ability, but not impervious.

Compare the number of feats required and the effect to Sudden Quicken ;)

It gets even worse with Persistent Spell. I shudder to think of a cleric with Persistent Righteous Might and Divine Power on every day (doable with one Extra Turning feat by the time you have those spells) :(

But hey, guess everyone's game has a different balance level. :)

Can you say, Dispel Magic?

Really? It has 6 prerequisite feats and only gives one Quicken per day ;) Divine Metamagic does the same thing at 1st-level for a human cleric who spends two feats and has at least 14 Charisma. And Divine Metamagic is more versatile.

Persistent Spell is generally balanced. I still don't think that Divine Metamagic is though (though YMMV). Just wondering, do you allow the Incantatrix PrC then? I haven't many people who do for a while.

Incantatrix requires some pretty big Spellcraft checks plus actions in combat to pull off its tricks. A while back, I played a Paladin with Incantatrix cohort in a short campaign, and the Cooperative Metamagic was the ability that came into play (my cohort + party sorcerer), and it wasn't nearly as useful as it looked in the book once I calculated the Spellcraft DCs and the lack of offensive actions being taken by the cohort in battle.
