[SPOILERS] Angel 17/11/2002

I KNEW there was a reason I liked that part so much. :) Wes going all action-hero with the hardware was definitely one of the best parts of the episode.

If the rumors are true, and this is the last episode until January, then this was ONE HECK of a cliffhanger!

I have really realliked liked Wes through his transition from good guy to bad guy to bad good guy. I found the scene with the guns to be quite profound, since no goods guys on buffy or angel have ever used them before. It imparted a real mood of desperation. Fine fine stuff. But I found Cordie's transition to be really weak. And frankly, I was genuinely grossed out by her doing the nasty with lil Connor. Bah.

Well, except the time Buffy used a rocket launcher. Or the high-tech guns that Riley used.
;)

But I know what you mean. I guess it's because guns don't mix well with Buffy, seeing as the cast was mostly teens, and since guns aren't as effective as crossbows against vampires.

I think there's also a bit of that super-hero mentality, where "real" super-heroes never use guns, only the anti-heroes like the Punisher. Speaking of which, yeah, Wes is cooler as a sort-of anti-hero.

What a show! Wesley was impressive, I wonder if the weapons were loaded with special ammo, silver, salt, & such, when you face so many different types of demons, it would be nice to find something that works! It was good seeing Wesley join back up with the gang - think it is the door to fix all those burnt bridges.

Angel kicks major butt but this bad is badder than anything and seems to enjoy the fight. Worthy foe?

Cordy! Is it really Cordy, or a programed Cordy and will we see a unholy child from the union? Is it possible she is acting on her 'higher being' and removing the innocent (male virgins were a big time sacrifice at one time).

Angel seeing the woman he loves and who just told him, I love you!

I feel sorry for Lilah, she loves (as much as she can) Wesley and knows that all they have is the sex, that she will never be what he THINKS he wants. I think Fred and Lilah are of the same mode, just that Fred has not realized it yet and Lilah gave all that up.

Powerful show.

Pretty good

I thought it was alright. Not the best, but it was nice to se a foe they couldn't overcome easily. Am I the only one not bothered by Cordy and Connor? I think they could make an interesting, if dysfunctional couple. What I want to know is, what about Dennis? They haven't said a lot about him since Fred and GUnn rtrieved some of Cordy's belongings.

I was disappointed. After last week's spectacular Buffy and Firefly episodes, I expected something similarly cool from this week.

But it kinda felt like the show's title, Rain of Fire, gave it all away. Nothing in it, except maybe the demon's birthplace (same as Connor's), came as a surprise -- even the birdies were shown in the preview.

And this apocalypse turns out not to be W&H's apocalypse, which means it's probably gonna get resolved fairly quickly. Not the world-changing event i was hoping it'd be.

OTOH, if Cordelia ends up bearing Connor's son, will we dust off that prophecy? You know -- the one about how the father will kill the son?

The time-traveling demon said he'd altered it. What if he just threw it off by one generation?

I'm curious to see if this turns out to be a non-crossover crossover with Buffy -- after all, the timing of the two apocalypses is awfully close together, and Big 'n Horny did come up from beneath everybody.

So maybe they're going to fight two sides of the same apocalypse.

Oh, and what if that Cordelia isn't Cordy at all, but rather a doppelganger sent to widen the rift between Connor and Angel? The real Cordelia is still a "higher being", helpless to watch as the Evil Fake Cordy twists things up.

Cool episode. I like John Woo action Wesley. It's interesting to think that this was the same character who screamed like a little girl back at Sunnydale graduation, now all badass with his shotgun. Wes has changed little by little with all the suffering he's gone through: getting sacked by the council, getting tortured by Faith, getting shot, having his throat cut and all his friends abandoning him. The past couple episodes have demonstrated that he's still on the side of good, willing to help his friends when they need him the most even though they were unwilling to help him.

RE: Cordy and Connor - I thought this was weird until I figured out that Connor is now 18 and Cordy (same age as Buffy) is only 21. It's only creepy if you think about how Cordy was there when Connor was born and changed his diapers and stuff. The fact is that Cordy and Connor are more likely to have a successful relationship than Cordy and Angel what with the curse and all.

You know, now that I've thought about the episode some more, and had a chance to recover from the sheer coolness factor of the fight with the Beast, I have to say I'm seriously bothered by Cordie's behavior.

I seriously hope this is leading up to a major plot point revelation, that she's still mentally messed up from her stint as a higher being, or under someone's control, or not really Cordie, or something. Because her pity-hump of Connor--and yes, that's what it was--is not only out of character, but she should know how dangerous it would be. To say nothing of the fact that it completely puts the lie to her professed feelings for Angel.

Yuck. Still a great ep, but despite the Cordie/Connor subplot, not because of it. Frankly, the sooner Joss Whedon decides to forget the whole Angel/Cordie/Connor love triangle--which is at the top of the list of the very few stupid ideas he's ever had--the better.
