[SPOILERS]Angel 5.1 Discussion

Remember that the SWAT team was armed for children and teachers, not for vampires. Presumably when they go fang-hunting, they bring special automatic stake-firing guns, holy-water supersoakers, and the like. The holy water they brought on this trip was surely just contingency holy-water: it was in a bottle not exactly designed for easy access in the middle of a fight.
And as I've mentioned before, they haven't exactly got a stellar record against real opposition. Holtz was able to take out an entire team much quicke than Angel was, and he was just an incredibly capable human. Angel was holding back, as he normally does, or they would have been dead and dealt with much faster. Angelus would have toyed with them, though.

Glad you enjoyed it! re: the fight scene, the SWAT team wasn't as dumb as all that. Bullets won't kill a vampire, but they WILL slow a vampire way down, enough that you can splash the holy water on.
Ah. I see my lack of Angel vampire knowledge is showing :D

I had forgotten about that - very good point!

Now this I want to see!

Heh. I like that term 'contingency holy water'. I'll have to use it in my next undead based adventure.

If the SWAT team made a mistake, it was in not keeping up an alternating cover fire over the room: they shouldn't have given Angel any free time to stand up in. It was still a very cool fight.

I was surprised when they stopped firing and sent one poor shulb into see if they got Angel. Jeez - he must have been low man on the totem pole that week! ;) Agreed though - great fight scene. I hope this is how it is all the time.

No, sometimes it's much, much better.

I wonder if they will bring back the woman who says

"Hi! I'm files and records. That's my job!"

For some reason that minor character is one of my very favourites.

:)

Oh yes. Ohhhhh, yes.

My understanding is that last season's episodes were written primarily by David Greenwalt (sp?). He doesn't have nearly the flair for iwtty dialogue that Joss Whedon has, isn't nearly as funny -- but boyoboyoboy, can he creep a fellow out! Madame Files and Records is a shining example of how a minor, nonthreatening character can make me shout, "GAAAAH!"
