[SPOILERS]Angel 5.1 Discussion

I kept saying last night, "Man, it's good to have Joss back!" Finally, my brother said, "You *do* know he's not writing for Angel now, right?" (or maybe my wife said that)

Anyway, he IS writing for Angel, and it's good to have Joss back! On another board, someone said that it's Joss's voice on the phone system, "Press 1 for goats..." The episode had his signature wit and snappy dialogue, and it was the best television I've seen in months.

That was sooo funny.

The more I think about the more potential I think this season has. I live in the Netherlands (well right now I live in the US for a semester) and I only saw the beginning of season 4..that was very dark. I liked it, but it can't be all dark all the time. I think this setup of the show can proide a great mix of drama, action, humor, moral dillemma and great courtroom scenes. Joss is at his best when mixing genres and it appears to be that is what this season is gonna be all about.

Yeap. Joss wrote and directed the premeire which is something he hasn't done on Angel since Season One. Altho with him directing the Firefly movie we may not see too much more from him when that gets fully underway.

And Boreanaz has developed some good comic timing. Anybody who can deliver a line like "And for the record... I've got no problem spankin' men," with a straight face is a darn fine actor in my book. :)

My biggest concern is the change of the feel of the show. The writing and character interaction was much more like Buffy (campy) than Angel, which is a darker show. I like the difference in feels of the two shows and I hope it does not change to Angel the Vampire Slayer.

Angel... drove... a car... in the sun...

Now, we'll get pastthat, and attribute it to the NecroGlass or whatever, but how did he get out of the car and the helo?

This new season looks to have more daylight scene's than first season, and that's part of what drove me away from the series.

(mostly it was the super hero feel.)

Actually, I loved that part, because "I'm crushing your windpipe" and the extremely bored look on Angel's face.
Priceless :)

Thick tarp or umbrella - take your pick. Either that or the W&H folks may have come up with some nifty sunblock for vamps. Or not.

Okay, I don't get to watch the show till Thursday at ten, so I'll be late in on all the discussions. Sigh.

Overall I really liked the episode. I've always been an Harmony fan and I'm glad to have her back. Spike and Harmony always had great scenes together.

There are two things I don't get. One, and I hope that explain this, how did they get the amulet back? Wasn't Spike in the Hellmouth when he died? The second is why didn't the wet works team take out the windows in the Angel fight? These guys seemed like they knew what they were doing. They knew Angel was a Vampire. Shot out the windows!!
