We should tack a spoilers tag onto the thread title.

That being said... I'm watching it now, and I don't remember the original pilot having such an irritating exposition monologue at the beginning.

Sort of reminds me of the differences between the "good" blade runner and the "crappy" one.

We'll have to wait and see which one this becomes.

i thought it was reasonably good. after the first epsiode i'm willing to give it a shot, although i sorta wish they didn't change Dinah so much.

I hope the tone does change. At the moment, it seems pretty... cheesey. I'm not sure if it was cheesey and knew it, or if it was trying to be dark and grim but failing. The result was sort of... "frommage noir".

I liked Helena. Meow! But the flying/jumping whatever was just a bit too cheesy. But then again, this already looks nearly as cheesy as Black Scorpion. (which is a bad thing)

Harlene Quinzel...interesting take. Will be fun to see.

They clearly did not put money into the Batman costume, probably thinking 'it will only be seen from the back for a few seconds".

The Joker was far too young to be the man who killed Batman's parents.

Batman would never quit. I just don't buy that.

Alfred should be dead by then.

Too many "beautiful people".

I agree with most of what Chimera was saying. While they did a good job with Smallville, they REALLY have made this WWWAAAYYY to cheezy. The fact they are "TRYING" to be edgy shows. It's not edgey.

What I DID like is they used Mark Hammil as the Joker. Now I don't actually want to SEE Mark as the Joker but he's done the BEST voice since Jack did the role.

I don't think they were trying to be dark or edgey...any more than Charmed was. The show seems very much Charmed with some Bat-mythos thrown in.

Better than Jack imo. He is the perfect Joker. It would be interesting to see Mark do the Joker...

True but at least with Charm you didn't know WHAT to expect completely. Using the Bat mythos they COULD have done a lot more.

Well if they do use Mark as the Joker...I GUESS it could work. I just keep seeing him as Luke is the only trouble.

Yes, it's the same guys who make Smallville, but a crossover does not seem very likely. Smallville is set before Clark becomes Superman, and Birds of Prey is set after Batman hangs up his cape, which is at least long enough for him to meet Catwoman, for them to >ahem< "make friends," and for Helena to grow up. That must be at least 25 years between the two series (assuming they keep Batman and Superman as cohorts).

Still, there are ways to do a crossover without doing a crossover. For example, it would be cool to have a brief Superman cameo in Birds of Prey in which we don't see Superman fully, but we hear Tom Welling do his voice. Or if one of the bad guys from Smallville shows up much older in Birds of Prey. I seriously doubt it'll happen, but I've always loved crossovers in the comics, and they're just as fun on TV.
