Spont casters, stay put or evolve to prestige?

Its common knowledge that sorcerers are best to prestige asap. This is in part do to the lack of in class features. So what to prestige into is the question?? Warmages? Is there a prstg class for them? Then again I think anything with alternate spells would suffice.

Side note, has anybody ever played a Green Star Adept? If so findings? - For some reason a new player to group is absolutely convinced he will be a god?? kind of annoying, I just met him, I asked him why the Green Star he laughs??? Am I missing something?

Greenstar Adept is really crappy for a caster, really. Even a gish build doesn't gain more than it loses. Half casting progression, with a capstone that removes your Con bonus to HP and ability to be healed... I don't know about you, but it seems it's your player who misses something. Even though you can make an argument that you gain +15 CL over 10 levels - losing out on 2 whole levels of spells is not something I'd condone.

Warmages prestige into Rainbow Servant. Once they have taken all 10 levels of that, they can cast ALL spells on the cleric list spontaneously. Which is rather good.

I think a single level dip into Sandshaper PrC from Sandstorm is excellent for any spontanious arcane caster because of all the added spells (and a few more levels gets you some nifty things). As for other PrC's, there are quite a few good options, depends upon what you're looking for. I would agree, taking a Sorcerer to 20 is missing out on opportunities for extra class abilities from PrCs.

Force Missile Mage comes to mind as a possible Warmage PrC, if the goal is specialising in stronger blasting with force.

I've never seen a Green Star Adept in play, however having read the class, I'm not convinced it's very good. It has seriously reduced caster progression, but worse than that, it appears that your ability get into the class and level is based around finding and injesting a mineral. This gives the DM total control over your leveling progression. The objective of the PrC is to become a construct. While the PrC was made before the Warforged Living Construct was made available to us, now that we have Warforged as a race I don't see any possible appeal to the Green Star Adept, in my opinion.

Is it only me, or are there other people that fail to see advantage of sandshaper bonus spells? They are all really bad, bordering awful. So I can cast a bunch more bonus spells, but I really don't want to, cos they cannot match any of my other spells known. AND I am one more effective caster level behind wizard and need to lug around a bucket of sand. I would rather stay pure sorc tyvm. Hell, nightmare spinner is much, much better IMHO, and it also loses 1 caster level. Benefits are just simply better.
But, other PrCs are awesome. Both versions of Incantatars/Incantatrices, a dip of Mindbender+mindsight feat, fatespinner, others.

Green star adept is a trap. It is an attempt at creating a flavored gish construct, but you would do much better with warforged sorcerer (yes, even with CHA hit), as you would have much more options open to that character, that GSA.

GSA is great if you're playing with the IH rules. You can qualify for Adamantine Body and get 70 AC and 72 Str at 21st level, which is about ten levels earlier than you're supposed to, and out-melee melee types without casting any spells. Sub-epic games? It sucks.
