Spontaneous Ranger/Paladin Spells?

Spontaneous Divine Magic.

Hey. I need a magic system tweak, fast!
Basically, I want to go to a more spontaneous magic system, especially for Paladins and Rangers.

Goal:
Give PCs with 1 spell perday of each level some hope of flexibility.

Explanation:
I HATE WotC's assumptions about spontaneous casting.
I feel spontaneous casters should cast less per day than prepared catsers.

Hypothesis:
Give Paladins and Rangers a "Readied Spell List" which is one greater than
their spells per day for each level. Allow therm to spontaneously cast from these up to their normal number of spells per day.

Any feedback?

I house ruled this. Basically, I took the Hexblade's casting and gave it to the paladin and ranger. It worked nicely for the one paladin I had...that lasted for two sessions.

The way I figure it, the Ranger and the Paladin get spellcasting for two reasons only:
Flavor and scrolls.

One's choice of spells to prepare really helps to define one's character. A very woodsy Ranger can prepare a spell to interact with animals and end up using it almost every play session, or an archery-focused Ranger can prepare arrow mind but leave it in reserve for those moments when the enemy is right on top of him. A TWF Ranger can prepare Blades of Fire and have a myriad of opportunities to use it, but must choose to save it for what he thinks is the most difficult battle of the day. When the other characters see him light up, they know he's pissed, or else he's worried about the battle's outcome.

Also, by having these spells available, the Ranger can cast them from scrolls, which allows a greater measure of the flexibility and power that a full caster enjoys... for a small cost.
