Spycraft 2.0 is awesome!

I got a chance to give SC2 a quick look yesterday. It looks good, but I have a question for those that have bought it and are familiar with D20 Modern. How easy would it be to port over Advanced Classes, mutations, cybernetics, and such from the D20 Modern line?

I should have the answer to that in a few weeks. It's like you read my mind, man. :)

After more time with it I'm starting to seriously like the Origins. I'm considering scrapping occupations in D20 Future, tweaking the Spycraft 2.0 origins a bit (and adding to them) and using those for my future games.

I think you may have just given me a reason to buy d20 Future.

Curses! More books to buy! And pdf's's! It's a conspiracy on your part to get us all to buy your Future pdf's so you can make more money and...make...more...pdf's...

Nevermind, carry on

Seriously, I'm not the only one who would be interested in your conversions, so post 'em here, please, if you're of the mind...

Thanks.

Firing 15 rds Autofire making the chance of a "complete miss" more likely than the same shot with only one round!)
Funny that. Of course, that's exactly what happens in real life too!

I am considering basing a Spycraft 2.0 game on the old computer game XCom: Enemy Unknown... having two groups of PCs - one Intell, the other Military. Sort of like an X-Files setting where the greys have come out of the closet...

The Auld Grump - one of my favorite computer games of all time.

Sounds like you need to talk to AEG to see what they are comfortable with. Maybe there is a powered by Spycraft 2.0 option.

This sounds like the best method to me rather than trying to come up with some sneaky "compatible with that popular spy rpg" pseudonym. A nice, uncomplicated direct route. I'd be surprised if AEG turned out to be opposed to it. After all, every other company that publishes a "Powered by Spycraft 2.0" further legitimizes and promotes Spycraft 2.0 itself, driving more sales of AEG's products. It's a situation where everyone wins. :D

AEG was quite friendly when I asked permission in the past -- however, the poor AEG design team is also horribly busy and can take a while (like months) before responding. I imagine with Phil doing this for a living, delays like that would make it difficult for him to plan products around supporting the line.

I just got my copy today, and all I can say is 'Wow'.

First of all, this book is solid. I'm talking the crack-a-bear's-skull type of solid. I think the law requires that I register this as a deadly weapon. ;)

Just from a cursory glance, I have to say that I really like some of the concepts I've seen so far - The Origins (Talents and Specialties) and the Class Core Abilities just to name two. Also, it seems that AEG tried to keep the flavor of the spy/modern action genre throughout every part of the book (that I've seen so far). For example, the feats. Instead of just some run-of-the-mill name, we have feat names such as 'Too Ugly To Die', 'Rock and Roll!', and my personal favorite (and probably will be my group's favorite too), 'This...Is My Boomstick!'. The section on play styles is also good, giving guidelines on how to run games from standard Spy Games, to military SpecOps, and to Westerns. The art is great, though I would've liked to have seen a few more illustrations of gear (but that's really only a minor quibble).

All in all, I am extremely happy with this book, and I'm looking forward to getting more supplements for Spycraft.

The only problem I have now is: What do I run first? Spycraft, or Dark Legacies?

P.S. Sorry if this sounded like a mini-review, but I am really liking this book...I had to preach it to the masses! Great job, guys!

Actually they have been quite quick in response this past week when talking to them....

wow

even the aeg guys didn't take that approach. they simply aqdmitted it was a game balance thingy.

you are the first i have seen to suggest that this is the case.

care to explain how?

fromn everything i have seen from multipkle sources, automatic fire does not increase the likelihood of a complete miss.
