Level?

Available materials?

PrC goals, if any?

Start at 1st level new campaign, materials unknown, so standard I would assume, thinking pistol/martial arts but new to system so looking for ideas and advice.

Played once before in a one shot and was a soldier.

What do you mean "standard"? I guess what I am getting at is what supplements are you being allowed to use? None, just the spycraft core ones, or everything including shadowforce archer? I guess my point would be "are you targeting any prestige classes?", as that might shape your character.

There are a couple of different faceman concepts... and it might even be a "facewoman" (as it is in our spycraft game.) A few new feats are out in the recent European Commonwealth that are appropriate for some Faceman concepts, like celebrity.

Ahhhhh.
We are using Spycraft core and I have the Faceman/Wheelman supplement, he stated he was not using Shadowforce Archer and he currently does not own European Commonwealth, so core and Faceman splat book.

It will be a faceman not a facewomen, and I am looking for ideas, so any help, advice, concepts welcome, what has worked and what has not etc....

Well, there is no Faceman/Wheelman class guide. There is a faceman/snoop class guide, but it's not out yet. The other two guides are soldier/wheelman and pointman/fixer (which are out.)

Some possible faceman archetypes:
  • Silver-tongued devil/con artist (Think "face" from A-team): Max out bluff and possibly diplomacy. Starting feat probably charmer or persuasive (or, fo course, silver tongue).
  • Well connected BS artist/dealer (Think "Klinger" from mash.) This guy knows people in the right places. Preferred skills are probably bluff and gather information. Possible starting feats include master fence or persuasive.
  • Heartthrob. The character is an expert at manipulating the opposite sex. Skills to max include diplomacy, starting feats include silver tongue and "the look".
  • Master of disquise. (Think "the saint") Classic in the espionage genre. Skills to max include disguise, bluff, and maybe perform or hide. Mimic or flawless identity should be among your first feats.

This may be a cool PC

I suggest the martial arts route. Being a master of disguise you may not always have a weapon handy.

Cool guys so martial arts and disguise specialist. Thanks, keep them ideas flowing.

Master of disguise is a great concept to go with for Faceman. You pretty much don't need to class out at all (though a little Fixer can go a long way, especially with sneak attack). You also can feel free to pretty much dump all your ability points into Charisma. Int and Wis are also nice, but not as important.

Remember that, as the high Charisma guy, you are also going to get mad gear. Doubly so if you go with the Power Brokerage department (your obvious choice from the basic book). Make sure to make it clear to the soldier just where all his pretty guns are coming from.

Feats you want to look at include the aforementioned Mimic. Several style feats are appropriate. The one often over-looked is Traceless. It's no good to look exactly like George Bush if you're leaving behind fingerprints that don't match.

There are two prestige classes to look at. The Mole, from the Pan-Asian Collective book, is designed to be the everyman, completely overlooked. There is also the D*****G***** from Faceman/Snoop, which is de
