WOIN Star Fighters in N.E.W.

I'm reading through NEW for the first time in preparation for a game I am hoping to run later this year. Are there Star Fighter rules anywhere that treat Fighters like individual ships instead of squadrons?

I´m not completely sure, but either Starship construction or Starship recognition manual contains rules for "undersized" ships.

I know it´s not part of your question, but be warned - player characters using little starfighters tend to be short-lived.

I was thinking of running an X-Wing Squadron style game so that bit of information is helpful. Do you have any suggestions on how I could make this work? Would the PCs still be short-lived if they only fought other fighters, or would that level the playing field out, in your experience?

If all ships are roughly the same size (+-1 Class) it should be ok; X-Wing vs big Ship(s) will definitely need adjusted rules.

You won't get hit very often, but one hit would be one too much.

My party runs a class 4 ship; fighters would get auto damage (automatic defence) if they get too close, additionaly it has 4 Attacks
