Star Trek: 40th Anniversary

For old times sake I watched the 40th anniversary celebration of the airing of the first Star Trek tonight on TV Land. I'm going to show my age but I remember quite well the very first airing of the very first show on Thursday, September 8, 1966. It scared me so bad with the salt sucking she-monster at the end that I slept with the lights on for a week.

Time goes way too fast.

I don't remember the very first episode I watched, but I do remember Who Mourns For Adonis? very vividly, as I was fascinated with both outer space and Greek mythology as a kid.

Yeah, Trek was one of those things I could share with my mom -- none of the others in the house "got" the show, and my brother, rat-fink traitor that he was ;) , only watched Lost In Space...

I watched The Voyage Home about three or four days ago. I can't believe that after being forced to watch it in HS, it became my favorite TOS movie. :uhoh: :p

I was in Vegas last month for the 40th anniversary Star Trek convention at the Las Vegas Hilton hotel. I was not there for the convention (total coincidence), but I got to see Quark's Bar FILLED with people in star trek uniforms. The entire hotel had trekkers gambling, drinking, roaming the halls, everywhere! Odd experience, but a good way to honor the 40th anniversary I suppose.
