Star Trek OS Revised

I post in the voice of Christopher Walken
If there is another thread on this my apologies, but just started watching Star Trek original series revised from Paramount. I haven't seen the original series in a while but have been meaning to check these out as I have heard good things. I am occasionally going back and watching an un-revised episode for contrast but about 5 episodes into he first season and it looks very sharp. I haven't noticed significant difference yet, just enhanced effects. Curious if any else has any thoughts on these

I think the enhanced effects and better resolution than Betamax/VHS/DVD/PAL. is pretty much it. They didn't change the content of the episodes. It's not like the Star Wars Specials where scenes were recut. It's also not like Doctor Who were the original film material was lost and had to be replaced based on recordings from fans or be replaced with animation.

I think in some cases they changed weirdly looking lights and blocks that were supposed to be ships into something that actually looks like a physical object.

Yeah, there are no changes to story/dialogue etc. And the only scene changes are space effects shots, like where the Enterprise is dropping probes. The planet devastated by the Gorn attack in Arena gets a fairly major upgrade.

Yeah, the main advantage I am finding it has over the other option on prime is the sound quality, and image crispness

Just to be clear, you're talking about the remasters from 2005-ish? Or is there a newer update nowadays?

I honestly have no idea. On Prime there are two options from paramount to stream (those seem to be the only two options). And you have to buy episodes. But the one I am talking about is the Paramount + revised that is currently up on prime

I've only a seen a few of the remastered episodes and I thought it was okay as they didn't really change the nature of the story. As Leonard Nimoy said, "The episodes that were bad then are still bad today, and the episodes that were good then are still good today." It's a little jarring seeing everything so clearly when compared to what I remembered. I hear the image quality was so good they had to digitally fix stains on costumes that had suddenly appeared which weren't visible before the remaster.

The other issue, compared to the original experience, is just how poke-in-the-eye vivid the colours are. It's now very obvious when Jim is wearing a green uniform instead of a gold one.
