Star Wars – The Clone Wars: Kaminoan Incident

Tal Jinn stands off to one side alone with several practice spheres going on him at once. He stands with his back to them, eyes closed, attempting to not just deflect the rays, but direct them back at another sphere. His face is creaseless and peaceful save the massive scar running from one eye diagonally across his face to his opposite jaw line.

He falters and one of the blasts catches him the shoulder. He grunts, not so much out of pain as frustration, and twirls to bring his lightsaber to bare against the sphere. He halts mid-swing and lazily redirects a blast from one of the other spheres. He continues to stare blankly ahead, effortlessly deflecting the rays of the others two. At last, he waves a hand and the machines cut off.

His friends have undoubtedly heard of his ordeal and he has made it clear that the 'taint' is something he must wrestle with alone. He still places great value in their support and friendship, however so he approaches where they are sparring and puts away his sabre.

"Have a care, Kyle, or Rei will cut off your belt like she did last time."

Every angle perfect, every stretch of leg just exactly so. Rei Miyazawa never let mere sparring interfere with the perfection of her kata form.

"Cocky today, aren't you?" she spoke, paused in defensive form. One leg back just so, the other bent just right, both sabers raised in parallel, one on either side of her face. As usual, looking as if she was posing for a holosculpture.

"Want me to increase the challenge for you?" Rei suggested with a wicked smile as she deignited her emerald saber but left her sapphire one still blazing. "I could give you some designer...alterations."

Winking at Tal for his comment about the belt, she smiled. "Like last time, right, Tal?"

"Join in, Tal. I'm sure Rei can handle two consulars, or are you fond of your belt as well?" Zak asked. He enjoyed the banter and the camaradarie with his friends, but knew better that to get too involved. He was never good at quick retorts.

Zak closed his eyes and allowed himself to view the room through the Force - to see the lines and auras of his companions, their ties to their weapons and to the force around them. Sometimes, the auras and the interplay were exquisitely beautiful. Zak hoped this would be one of these times.

"Guess I just feel lucky today, Rei" replied Kyle. Rei's athletic prowess and ability to wield two lightsabers had intimidated many, but Kyle refused to join them. He advanced towards her in a smooth, rapid movement, never breaking eye contact with the beautiful Jedi. He raised his saber as he made his attack, then turns the blade off, feints to the side and strikes Rei in the small of her back with the blade end of his handle.

"How is that for cocky," he asks as he continues past her, still keeping her in view over his shoulder.

Tal unconciously puts a hand on his belt. When realizes it, he attempts to recover, "Yes I think it should stay where it is."

He folds his arms before him and stands next to Zak, watching the other two go at each other. "It is a shame we must leave so soon. I am not overly eager to leave such ... comfortable surroundings. When do we leave again, Zak? I'm assuming you'll be our Squad Leader during flight."

"Well, Kyle, I don't think that one exactly counts." said Jaq'lene from her perch on the pillar, her snow-white fur turning a light pink from her amusement. The small Kushiban female was resting with her head on her hands, a distinctly human gesture, especially with her tiny pink nose twitching. She leapt from the pillar landing softly on the Weapon Master's shoulder, tail stroking her clan mate's neck soothingly.

"You know the rule's Kyle, while the saber is off you may not attack." the Kushiban chittered at the human chidingly. "She stopped defending herself once the match was over. Your sneak attack was well timed, if a tad against the dueling codes."

The little female's fur returned to its more normal white color as she hopped down from Rei's shoulder, she and the other female had an agreement, she could perch on the woman's shoulder, even act the pet when it was required by the situation. She raises her right hand, and into it floats her small fur-lined lightsaber. She raised it to a gaurd position facing herself off against the female jedi that dwarfed her. With the depression of a blue stud hidden under the fur lining, a cerulean blade extended from the emitter as long in proportion to Jaq'lene's body as Rei's were to her.

Kyle walks off to the side towards Zak and Tal, rubbing his hand on the back of his neck, his head down to hide his emabarrassed look. "Yeah Jaq'lene, I know. I just thought I would end a session on my terms for once instead of Rei's." Kyle clips his lightsaber onto his belt and proceeds to the pile of clean, folded towels in the corner. He grabs one off the top of the pile and dabs away some of the sweat form his long session in the gym. He stretches his muscles a bit as the next duel begins.

"Maybe I should have took your help Zak," he says to the quiet Duro next to him.

When Rei saw him deignite his saber during his intial attack, her dark brows furrowed slightly in confusion as she started to straighten up into a relaxed stance. Though why he was he still coming at her...?

She stepped to one side just as the end of his saber struck her squarely in the small of her back. Stumbling a little forward, she immediately straightened as she spun around to face him, both sabers deignited.

"Kyle Valles!" Rei exhaled in exasperation as Jaq'line landed on her shoulders. "Next time try it during an actual duel." But the little tail rubbing her shoulders helped to calm any lingering indignation she felt.

Folding her arms, the young Jedi arched one delicate brow at Kyle. "Of course now you owe me a backrub." She added, smiling a little at his embarrassment. "You know, Kyle, anytime you want some lessons, just let either me or Jaq'lene know."

She glanced down at her best friend and longtime sparring partner. "You want to spar, do you? I think I still have some energy left for one more round."

Zak pondered the question for a few moments and opened his eyes - no longer watching the jedi with the force alone. One blink, then another.

"Don't know," Zak replied, his deep earthy voice taking on a hint of sadness. "Last I heard we most likely would be split - though Kyle or you may know more about that than I."

"Though were we to travel together, I would be honored to be in the same squad as all of you," Zak added. By the time Zak was done talking, Rei had started sparring with Jac'lene. He closed his eyes again to watch the match.

"So, you little wookie hairball," Rei teased her friend as she eased back into a relaxed stance and hung her emerald saber back onto her belt. "You think today is your day to kick some Miyazawa derriere?"

The sound of leather against skin echoed in the gym when she gave her butt a slight smack with the palm of her free hand. "Bring it on, bunny! Let's see what you got!"

A sapphire glow highlighted her mischievious features as the saber came to life between the two Jedi weapon masters. Rei concentrated, bringing her mind into focus, knowing that she would have to be very accurate in order to get blow in on her very fleet-footed opponent.
