Star Wars battlemaps

Anyone know the cheapest and/or fastest way to get the big battlemaps for rpg play? I figured i could buy some of the minis game starter sets, but don't know if that is the most productive means. And i would really like to be able to SEE a map before i buy it. And not have all the other clutter with it, like the rules book.

you can buy a starter, you can ask for one in you LGS (if they hold tornaments), or you can see some made buy other players (search for the holocron...think is the_holocron.net)

You may be able to find maps by themselves off eBay but it is quite rare.

I suggest:

1. Get the ATST set. Its cheap and you get 4 battle maps (though one is also in the SW rule book). Each starter has only one and the Ultimate Mission Books have 2.

2. Check out Cafepress. There are a number of excellent fan made battlemaps that you can pick and choose.

3. Wait for the Galaxy Tiles. They are cheap and only 2 months away.

There are a couple of websites that preview all the official maps if you dig around for them.

Some of my ship designs work well for skirmishes. There are demo docs for all of them so you can see what they look like. Of course, being PDFs, it leaves the problems of printing.

(see sig for more info).

Those are extremely cool. For some reason I have missed your products before. I'm so going to buy at least the Exeter as soon as possible :D .

Hey thanks for suggestions. I ordered the AT ST and a starter set, and i have the doublesided map from the core book. There are some cool maps on websites too, but i'm not sure about paying that much for a single map for such limited use. They do look snazzy though.

Another question:

Is the map that comes with the SW Battles a big space map? I thought about using that to supplement the rpg too. Unless it's just not too impressive looking.

Yes, it is a double sided space map of the correct scale for the RPG. One of the short sides shows a planet (I think it is Coruscant on one side and Tatooine on the other).
